Unvaccinated Children Most Affected in Measles Spread 

United States: The U.S. exceeded 700 confirmed measles cases in 2025, according to the figures posted by the CDC. 

Young Children Most Affected 

The CDC records show thirty-two percent of cases emerged in children under 5 years old combined with three percent in patients aged 5 through 19, as reported by USA Today

The CDC data from Friday showed hospital admission rates at 79, with 45 of these patients being under five years old. The majority of measles cases, 97%, involved unvaccinated patients or individuals whose vaccination status remained unknown. 

Texas at the Epicenter 

The agency has documented measles cases across twenty-four different states throughout the country. The Texas Health Department has recorded more than 540 measles cases, and two unvaccinated children with no underlying health conditions have passed away, including an 8-year-old girl, as reported by USA Today. 

Cases in Gaines County, the center of the outbreak, rose to 355. 

The United States has passed its annual measles case count from 2024 since the beginning of the year.
