United States – President Biden on Thursday did not triumph over the Supreme Court decision of the continuation of the abortion pill mifepristone, observing that the war for sexual freedom for women in the U. S. is still on, as reported by The Hills.

“It is today that the battle for Roe versus Wade remains after the Supreme Court abolished this vital constitutional right two years ago and women lost the freedom,” the President said in reference to the declared opinion shortly.

Supreme Court Verdict

On Thursday, the Supreme Court was unanimous while declaring that an association of physicians against abortion has no legal authority to dispute the right to mifepristone. This legal point of view authored by Justice Brett Kavanaugh was in favour of the Biden administration as well as the manufacturer of the branded mifepristone.

Biden also mentioned that although there will be medication abortion still obtainable and approved, attacks on mifepristone are part and parcel of Republican elected officials’ extreme and dangerous crusade to amplify the abortion ban across the country.

Biden’s Stance on Medication Abortion

He pointed out twenty-one states have passed what he described as extreme abortion bans since the US Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade two years ago, and he stated, ‘contraception is under attack, IVF is under attack.

“The price couldn’t be higher for women all across America,” Biden said, adding that he and Harris support the majority of Americans who “believe in a woman’s rights making her own deeply personal health care decisions. ”“We are going to keep on striving to make sure that women in every state have access to their health needs and we are going to keep on demanding that Congress passes the Roe v. Wade protections – that is our word. ”

Vice President Harris, in a statement to the Biden-Harris campaign, accused the former President Trump, who loves to boast of his pick of conservative justices to the Supreme Court for the overturning of Roe v. Wade, saying women are now living under cruel abortion bans.

“The contrast is stark: While Trump relentlessly attacks reproductive freedoms, President Biden and I will never stop fighting to protect them. Americans have repeatedly made it clear they want more freedom, not less, and will make their voices heard at the ballot box again this November.”

Harris has been appointed as the figurehead for the White House on abortion and has given speeches in which she focuses largely on Trump and the Republicans undermining women’s reproductive rights.

Abortion as a Key Issue for Democrats

Still, the President, like all politicians, has had to tiptoe around contentious issues with an eye toward 2024 as well, such as abortion as a Catholic, which the church frowns upon. The high court ruling was made only a day before Biden planned to meet Pope Francis at the Group of Seven summit in Italy, as reported by The Hills.

Abortion has emerged as a rallying point for Democrats after the Supreme Court annulled Roe versus Wade in 2022, allowing the Democrats to pull off upset victories during the 2022 midterms, which the Democrats are now eyeing on in the current year.
