United States – Another food giant that has had to recall its products due to FDA complications, this time it is Perdue Foods, which has recalled 167,000 cooking chicken nuggets and chicken tenderettes after consumers reported finding pieces of metal in them. 

Recall Overview 

The recall includes certain lot numbers of Perdue Breaded Chicken Tenders, Butcher Box Organic Chicken Breast Nuggets, and Perdue Simply Smart Organics Breaded Chicken Breast Nuggets, as reported by Associated Press. 

Neither Perdue nor the U. S. Agriculture Department’s FSIS have reported any injuries or adverse reactions resulting from the consumption of these foods. However, the agency stated in its news release that it is worried that some of the products may still be stored in customer’s freezers.

Safety Precautions 

The issue first arose earlier when people found bits of metal wire in chicken that they purchased. ‘We found out that the material was a very thin strand of metal wire, which got into the process accidentally,’ said Jeff Shaw, the senior vice sed of food safety and quality With Perdue. “So, in order to take precautionary measures, we decided to recall all of these packages of products. ” 

Details of the Recall 

The affected tenders and nuggets can be identified with the help of the product codes stated in the FSIS notice. Both the salsa and the chili have a ‘best if used by Date of March 23, 2025, and establishment number P-33944 on the back of the pack. These were available in retail outlets across the country and also through online markets. 

What should consumers do? The company said those who have the recalled chicken should dispose of it or return the product to its original seller, according to Perdue. The company has gone ahead and made sure that consumers can get full refunds from the corresponding number, 866-866-3703. 

Broader Context 

Contaminated foreign objects were cited as one of the main causes of food recalls within the United States, as reported by the Associated Press. 

In November, Tyson Foods forcibly recalled nearly 30,000 pounds of chicken nuggets after customers reported finding debris, including metal objects in the shapes of dinosaurs. Besides metal, plastic, and rocks, bits of insects and other such ‘contaminants’ have been found in packaged food, leading to recall, the AP said.
